While Netflix has already revealed in-depth viewership data for the recently released psychological drama film Unabomber, the latest Nielsen report sheds more light on how the movie has performed. Unabomber is only the latest depiction of the infamous terrorist Ted Kaczynski's crimes, following a well-received narrative series and several documentaries. Unfolding across two timelines — the first follows Kaczynski as a Harvard student and the other traces the FBI's manhunt for him decades later — the movie opened to poor reviews in September. It wasn't significantly affected by the reception initially, but experienced a hefty fall in its third week.
The movie amassed 16 million views in its first week of release, followed by 23 million views in its second. However, the mediocre reception seemed to catch up with it by week three, when it dropped several spots on the Netflix top 10 list and added another 7 million views. The movie, starring Russell Crowe and Jacob Tremblay, will likely hit the 50 million views milestone this week. This puts it behind the recent Netflix thrillers The Last House and The Whisper Man, both of which amassed around 80 million views during their first month. And with Ben Affleck's Animals wreaking havoc on the charts with 23 million views in its first three days of release, the chances of Unabomber making a resurgence seem bleak.
