It has been an interesting few weeks for Russell Crowe's fans, who've been spoiled for choice on both streaming and at home. Toward the end of September, Crowe starred in the Netflix psychological drama film Unabomber, which emerged as a solid hit for the streamer despite having received poor reviews. Around the same time, Crowe and Ethan Hawke co-starred in the Western drama film The Weight, which is all set to debut on the PVOD market this week following a limited theatrical run. In contrast to the critically panned Unabomber, The Weight emerged as Crowe's best-reviewed movie in nearly three decades. However, there is a third film starring Crowe that has quietly been dominating the streaming charts in the last few weeks, extending the scope of his success across three mediums at the same time.
The movie in question received a negligible theatrical run earlier this year, during which it earned mixed reviews. Also starring Teresa Palmer, Luke Evans, Nina Dobrev, and Aaron Paul, the film follows a nightclub owner whose retirement plans are thrown into disarray by robbers. Crowe has had significant success at home in the last year, thanks to movies such as the World War II courtroom drama Nuremberg, the psychological thriller Sleeping Dogs, and the many classics that he starred in during his heyday. For instance, his trio of recent titles was recently joined by Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, which is currently charting on Prime Video.
