Jon Bernthal's $100M Action Thriller Officially Hits 200 Days of Streaming Dominance

2026 has been a benchmark year for Jon Bernthal, so much so that it will likely be remembered as one of the most important years of his career. Bernthal has added over $5 billion to his career box office total thanks to his roles as Menelaus in The Odyssey and The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Before he teamed up with Tom Holland for the $2 million MCU blockbuster, he also starred as Frank Castle in his first MCU solo project, The Punisher: One Last Kill, which spent over a month at the top of streaming charts. Earlier in the year, Bernthal teamed up with Tessa Thompson for one of the most-watched Netflix shows of the year, His & Hers, but as a limited series, the show was never renewed for Season 2.

The last few years for Bernthal were somewhat quiet in the build-up to his colossal 2026, but last year, he did star in one of the most underrated action thrillers of the entire year. We're talking, of course, about The Accountant 2, the hit sequel co-starring Ben Affleck. The Accountant 2 hit theaters at the end of April, but the film was only able to scrounge together $103 million at the box office — with an $80 million budget, it needed much closer to $175 million just to break even. However, The Accountant 2 has found redemption on streaming as one of Prime Video's most-watched titles of both 2025 and 2026. The film has even been doing so well that it's now been in the top 10 for over 200 days, which is an impressive streaming feat that few movies or shows have a claim to.

Are They Making Another 'Accountant' Movie?

Around the same time last year that The Accountant 2 was released, director Gavin O'Connor confirmed that he was working on a third Accountant film. However, in the 18 months since it was released, there have been few updates about the threequel, though it's still believed to be in development. Nearly 10 years passed between The Accountant and The Accountant 2, so it may just take some time for the third movie to make its way into theaters. Plot details and casting for The Accountant 3 are being kept under wraps, but both Bernthal and Affleck are expected to return.
