As Academy Award-winning director Alejandro G. Iñárritu and the iconic Tom Cruise's brand-new Digger flopped last weekend, the top of the box office charts was perhaps unsurprisingly filled by the latest Colleen Hoover adaptation, Verity. After It Ends with Us, Regretting You, and Reminders of Him all proved financial successes, Verity looks set to become the second-biggest box office hit of all the Hoover adaptations after an opening weekend haul of roughly $60 million.

Key to the success of Verity so far is its star-studded cast, featuring Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett, and led by Anne Hathaway in arguably the busiest year of her career so far. Is Verity a hit with critics? Far from it, with the film receiving a poor reception on Rotten Tomatoes and being "afraid to go too campy, creepy, or even overtly erotic with its visual styling and script choices," according to a review for Collider by Carly Lane. But that won't matter to those involved, especially Hathaway, whose first major hit of the year also received mixed reviews.

Following her titular turn in A24's Mother Mary, Hathaway finally re-teamed with Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt for the legacy sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2, reprising her role as Andy Sachs, who now faces the tumultuous world of modern journalism. A film that was called "a near-perfect blend of nostalgia and newness" by Collider's Taylor Gates in her review, the film has continued its popularity after a strong run in theaters. At the time of writing, and likely boosted by Verity's arrival, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is back among the most-watched titles on the iTunes charts in the U.S.

How Much Did 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' Make at the Box Office?

Will those involved in The Devil Wears Prada 2 be worried about the mixed reviews? The film was a huge hit at the box office — that's all that matters. The movie finished its theatrical run with a total haul of almost $700 million worldwide against a reported budget of $100 million, helping push the entire franchise past the $1 billion mark. At the time of writing, it is the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2026 so far worldwide.
