2026 has been a relatively quiet year for Tom Hardy, at least until a few weeks ago, when he returned to star as Harry Da Souza in the second season of the Paramount Plus crime thriller, MobLand. Hardy filmed his scenes for Season 2, but there was growing concern that he would not return to star in Season 3 after reports surfaced online of a rift that had formed between him and one of the show’s leading producers. Fortunately for MobLand fans, these tensions have been smoothed over, and Hardy is expected back in Season 3 of the show, which has already been confirmed. It’s been only a few weeks since the second season of MobLand hit streaming, but it’s still taking over the world as one of the most-watched titles on Paramount Plus.

Hardy is best known for starring in legendary sci-fi thrillers in the 2010s like Inception and Mad Max: Fury Road, but later in his career, he took on the role of Eddie Brock in the Venom movies, which has become what many fans know him for. Hardy has never won an Oscar at any point in his career, but he was nominated once for his supporting performance in The Revenant, the 2015 sprawling Western epic co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Domhnall Gleeson. Hardy’s great performance as John Fitzgerald in the film is overshadowed by Leonardo DiCaprio’s role as Hugh Glass, as it marked the first time in history that DiCaprio won an Oscar for his performance in a film. 11 years after leaving theaters, The Revenant has landed on the streaming platform HBO Max, and it’s one of the top 10 most-watched titles on the platform.

What Is ‘The Revenant’ About?

In addition to Hardy, DiCaprio, and Gleeson, The Revenant also stars Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) and Paul Anderson (Peaky Blinders). The film was written by Mark L. Smith and Alejandro G. Iñárittu, with Iñárittu also stepping behind the camera to direct. Iñárittu is also the director behind Tom Cruise’s latest blockbuster, Digger, which is shaping up to be a massive bomb at the box office. The official synopsis for The Revenant, which holds scores of 78% from critics and 84% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, reads as follows:

“While exploring the uncharted wilderness in 1823, frontiersman Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) sustains life-threatening injuries from a brutal bear attack. When a member (Tom Hardy) of his hunting team kills his young son (Forrest Goodluck) and leaves him for dead, Glass must utilize his survival skills to find a way back to civilization. Grief-stricken and fueled by vengeance, the legendary fur trapper treks through the snowy terrain to track down the man who betrayed him.”
