The Paramount+ streaming charts have become Taylor Sheridan's playground. Everything he touches seems to turn to gold on the streamer, with Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, and the franchise that started it all, Yellowstone, consistently dominating viewership. For more than a month, it's been the turn of Sheridan's Lioness to conquer everything on Paramount+, as Zoe Saldaña's Joe McNamara and her team of female operatives returned for a must-watch third season.
The "show's newest season could easily become its best yet," said ScreenRant's Cher Thompson in her review, which is just one of countless gushing responses to the latest installment of Sheridan's best spy series. This Sunday, September 20, it all comes to an explosive end in the Sheridan-penned finale, leaving room for a new title to take the Paramount+ throne. It seems that the heir apparent to Lioness' #1 spot isn't going to be another Sheridan series. Instead, one of the most controversial horror films of the year now looks the most likely to take control of the streaming charts.
After making its streaming debut following a surprisingly successful box office run, the return of the popular parody series Scary Movie for its sixth installment is now the most-watched movie on Paramount+ in the U.S. Overall, the series sits second behind the aforementioned Lioness, but will look to haunt its way to the very top of the streamer after Sheridan's latest season comes to an end. Returning with a modern twist and the original writers (brothers Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans) on board, Scary Movie 6 parodied Smile, Nope, Get Out, The Substance, Sinners, and Weapons, dividing fans and critics down the middle.
How Much Did 'Scary Movie' Make at the Box Office?
Although horror is having quite the moment in theaters, few expected Scary Movie to turn back the clock and prove a hit. However, the Wayans proved everyone wrong once again, helping this latest installment become the first to break the $200 million mark since the original, 25 years ago. Sadly, it couldn't quite match the $277 million of the first installment, finishing its theatrical run with a global haul of $231 million, against a reported $30 million budget.
