Best known for playing James Bond before Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan is still one of the biggest movie stars in the world. Brosnan has been busy in the last few years, starring opposite Tom Hardy in MobLand, the Paramount Plus crime thriller series directed and produced by Guy Ritchie that streams on Paramount Plus. Last year, Brosnan also starred in one of the most-watched Netflix movies of the entire year, The Thursday Murder Club, which was instantly hailed as the perfect replacement for the Knives Out franchise. Brosnan is also soon to star in a new Cliffhanger movie with Lily James, a remake of the 1993 Sylvester Stallone film of the same name. Though his Bond role is firmly in the rearview mirror, Brosnan is booked and busy with loads of new projects on the horizon.
Last year, Brosnan was one of many stars to join the cast of the animated religious epic The King of Kings, which follows a boy journeying through the life of Jesus Christ as told through his father's vivid storytelling. Brosnan voices Pontius Pilate, and the star-studded ensemble also includes Kenneth Branagh as Charles Dickens, Uma Thurman as Catherine Dickens, Mark Hamill as King Herod, Roman Griffin Davis as Walter Dickins, Forest Whitaker as Peter, Ben Kingsley as Caiaphas, and Oscar Isaac as both Jesus and Satan. One year after The King of Kings stunned at the box office, grossing $83 million against a $20 million budget, the film streams exclusively on Angel's platform, but it's also a VOD sensation on platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV.
Could Pierce Brosnan Ever Play James Bond Again?
It's highly unlikely that Pierce Brosnan will ever suit up as James Bond again, especially not in the next 007 movie in the works at Amazon. While the next Bond has not been officially announced, the shortlist consists of names like Jacob Elordi, Paul Mescal and Jack Lowden, all much younger than Brosnan. It's possible he could cameo in the movie to pay homage to his past role, but his time as the signature MI6 agent is likely behind him.
