Alan Ritchson has quickly become one of Hollywood's most in-demand stars, though that doesn't necessarily mean he can land every role he wants. Still, he may be inching closer to one of his dream jobs. The Reacher star has repeatedly said he wants to join James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe, and that goal now appears one step closer to becoming a reality.

Speaking exclusively with Collider's Steve Weintraub ahead of Clayface, Safran confirmed that DC Studios has discussed several potential projects with Ritchson, although none have moved forward yet. Asked about the actor's earlier comments about meetings with DC, Safran said, "We talked about a couple things, but nothing that's come to fruition at this point. I think he's great." When Weintraub noted how popular Ritchson is right now, Safran emphasized that there is more to Ritchson than meets the eye. He told Collider:

"Yeah, but he's just good. I also think there's a lot more depth to him than you might have seen. I think there's more that he can do that people haven't seen."

Alan Ritchson Has Already Teased His DCU Future

Ritchson has been unusually open about wanting to work with DC Studios, though he has also made clear that playing Batman is looking increasingly unlikely. On Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast in July, the actor confirmed that he and Gunn had already spoken extensively and that talks were ongoing.

"I really respect James. I would like to do something with James. James would like to do something with me. There could be a bright future for us, and there have been a lot of conversations."

The actor expanded on the Batman speculation during San Diego Comic-Con, revealing that another DC character was under discussion. He said he would love to play The Dark Knight but didn't believe the role was likely to be his, suggesting his talks with the studio were heading in a different direction.

Clayface is the latest DC Studios project, while Ritchson continues to lead Prime Video's Reacher. Stay tuned at Collider for more.
