Pokémon Legends: Z-A was released last fall and sold over 12 million copies by the end of 2025. An expansion, Mega Dimension, dropped before 2025 was up, and it let players explore a distorted version of Lumiose City filled with new Pokémon.

If you're a Pokémon fan but still haven't explored the streets of Lumiose City yet, you're in luck. On Wednesday, Nintendo announced a new Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition for Pokémon Legends: Z-A that will bundle the base game and the Mega Dimension DLC. In typical Nintendo fashion, it has quite the long official name: Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension.

It will include both the game and the Mega Dimension DLC on one card — good news for physical media collectors. If you snag the new bundle, you'll also get a code for a Mystery Gift of 100 Ultra Balls.

Interestingly, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition will still be playable on an original Nintendo Switch console. "When playing the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition on the Nintendo Switch system, though, the content will be the same as that of the Nintendo Switch software. Additional features and content that utilize the Nintendo Switch 2 system’s specs will not be included," reads a press release announcing the new edition.

Mega Dimension is a grind

Nintendo did not announce a price for the physical bundle. The digital version of the base game and its DLC retails for $99.99, so it's possible the physical edition will be priced to match. Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension will be released Oct. 29.

While I enjoyed the base game of Pokémon Legends: Z-A (and it landed in Polygon's top 50 games of 2025), I was less impressed by the Mega Dimension DLC. "Too much of the DLC’s experience is padded out by grinding for the sake of grinding," I wrote in my Mega Dimension review. "Like a stodgy cake lacking strong flavor, Pokémon Legends: Z-A — Mega Dimension might be best nibbled and ultimately left alone."
