Alongside the announcement that RuneScape 4 is now in development at Jagex, more news coming out of RuneFest is that the beloved MMO is getting an animated adaptation. Details are slim right now, but we know that it's coming from Lyrical Animation, a division of independent film production company Lyrical Media.
Its filmography includes Bruiser, The Death of Robin Hood, and Onslaught, among others. Notably, the production company is also working on the Bloodborne animated movie, alongside Death Stranding: Mosquito, an animated film based on the Kojima Productions video game series.
That's not all: The upcoming RuneScape animated show is being produced in partnership with Charlie "MoistCr1TiKaL" White, one of the most popular gaming content creators on the planet. In a virtual pre-briefing ahead of RuneFest, a PR representative for Jagex explained that it's being built with White, as he's "a maxed-out player and is a big fan of our games, and it's going to be a bit of a passion project for everyone involved."
"Additionally, Jagex unveiled plans to expand RuneScape beyond games, partnering with creator and internet phenomenon, Charlie White aka MoistCr1TiKaL as well as acclaimed LA-based production business Lyrical Media, to bring the world, characters and stories of Gielinor to life in a new exciting animated adaption," reads a press release.

The extent of White's involvement hasn't been confirmed, but he isn't a stranger to the wider entertainment industry. He was an extra in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, he's played himself in numerous web shows, voiced characters in various dubbed anime shows and video games, and he's even working with Lyrical Animation already on an animated film adaptation of his own graphic novel series, Godslap.
