Few actors can say they’ve had as successful a year as Jon Bernthal, who has starred in two of the biggest movies of the year with The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Bernthal was tapped to play Menelaus in Christopher Nolan’s hit historical epic, which has grossed well over $1.5 billion at the global box office. Meanwhile, Bernthal suited up as The Punisher opposite Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4, which is now one of the highest-grossing movies in history. He’s also had a big year in TV, where he starred in one of the most successful Netflix shows of the year, His & Hers, with Tessa Thompson. He also teamed up with Ebon Moss-Bachrach for a surprise prequel episode of The Bear, "Gary," which was nothing short of a smash-hit on Hulu.
Jon Bernthal has starred in dozens of successful movies over the years, but one that may have been forgotten in the scope of time is Fury. Written and directed by David Ayer, the same director behind Brad Pitt’s new blockbuster, Heart of the Beast, Fury came into theaters back in 2014 carrying a $68 million budget, but the film smashed past its break-even point by grossing $211 million at the global box office. Now 12 years removed from Fury’s successful theatrical run, the film is without a streaming home after being removed from Netflix a few months ago, but that isn’t stopping fans from watching it on streaming. Bernthal and Ayer fans are so invested in rewatching Fury, or watching it for the first time, that the film is officially surging on VOD platforms like Prime Video as one of the most-watched rentals and purchases.
