2026 has been a roller-coaster of a year for Guy Ritchie, who has directed and produced some career-defining projects, but also some duds. Ritchie found success earlier in the year with his work on Young Sherlock, the Sherlock Holmes prequel series that steamrolled competition on Prime Video. The streamer also decided to bring back the show for Season 2, though it's still unclear at this time when it will be released. Ritchie stumbled with his return to theaters and reunion with Henry Cavill on the new action movie, In The Grey, which also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, who he previously worked with on The Covenant. In The Grey failed to find box office glory, but the film has gone on to become one of the most-watched streaming hits of the year on Starz since its debut a few weeks ago.

So far this year, Ritchie has produced must-watch streaming hits for both Netflix and Paramount Plus. On Netflix, fans can't stop watching the second season of The Gentlemen, but despite the profound streaming success, the fate of the show beyond Season 2 has yet to be decided. The same can't be said for Ritchie's MobLand (starring Tom Hardy), which was renewed even before it became the #1 most-watched show in the world. Ritchie also found streaming success in 2025 with his only new movie, Fountain of Youth, which was released straight-to-streaming on Apple TV. The movie reportedly cost around $200 million to make and market, and while this is certainly a pricey bill to foot for a movie that was never released in theaters, it certainly helps that it's been in the Apple TV top 10 for over 275 days now.

What Is 'Fountain of Youth' About?

James Vanderbilt, who recently wrote and directed Nuremberg (starring Russell Crowe) wrote the script for Fountain of Youth with Ritchie directing. The film stars John Krasinski and Natalie Portman as long-lost siblings, with Eiza González, Domhnall Gleeson, and Arian Moayed filling out the rest of the ensemble. The official synopsis for Fountain of Youth, which earned scores of 35% from critics and 38% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, reads as follows: "A treasure-hunting mastermind assembles a team for a big adventure. But to outwit and outrun threats at every turn, he'll need someone even smarter, his estranged sister."
