Fast & Furious franchise co-stars Alan Ritchson and Jason Statham faced off at the domestic box office this past weekend, as Ritchson's new action movie overtook Statham's 2026 flop. Over the years, Statham has found his box-office pull declining, although he remains a massive draw on streaming. Both his 2026 vehicles — Shelter and Mutiny — underperformed theatrically, but more than redeemed themselves in their post-release phase on streaming. Meanwhile, Ritchson is taking the opposite trajectory as he attempts to leverage his considerable streaming pull in theaters.

Recently, Ritchson delivered the blockbuster fourth season of his career-defining Prime Video series, Reacher. He followed it up by appearing in the spin-off series Neagley, which premiered the same day as the Reacher Season 4 finale. This past weekend, Ritchson's stylish action movie Motor City completed 30 days in a row on the domestic PVOD charts, according to FlixPatrol. The star-studded movie debuted theatrically earlier this year, but was able to gross only around $3 million against a reported budget of $30 million. Ritchson's second attempt at theatrical success this year, Runner, has fared better.

Here's How Much 'Runner' Has Grossed at the Box Office

Also starring Owen Wilson, the film made around $800,000 in its third weekend after losing roughly half of its 2,400-strong theater count. The movie's domestic total now stands at $13.8 million. This puts it roughly $1 million ahead of Shelter, the action-thriller that Statham headlined earlier this year. Statham's second 2026 release, Mutiny, ended its domestic run with around $15.8 million. Interestingly, Runner director Scott Waugh helmed Expend4bles, which was designed as a soft reboot of the long-running Expendables franchise, with Statham in the lead. Runner is Waugh's best-reviewed film, and it now holds a 77% critics' score and a "Verified Hot" 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The aggregator website's consensus reads, "Fast and gleefully over-the-top, Runner makes the most of Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson's winning chemistry to deliver crowd-pleasing action and humor with plenty of heart."
