Netflix has established itself as a force in the streaming game, with more subscribers and more content than any of its competition. Not only does Netflix have an extensive library of original movies and TV shows, but the streamer also excels at taking older movies and TV shows and giving them new life after they were discarded by other platforms and networks. Earlier this year, Netflix took the long-forgotten Michael Bay-produced and Eric Dane-starring sci-fi series, The Last Ship, and turned it into one of the most-watched TV shows in the world. Netflix has also found success with some original blockbusters this year, like War Machine (starring Alan Ritchson) and Apex (starring Charlize Theron), and the streamer isn’t slowing down, either. Ben Affleck’s new kidnapping thriller, Animals, is set to be released on the platform around the world this Friday.

One of the most exciting things for Netflix subscribers each month is waiting to see which old movie or show is going to make its way to the platform, and the steamer has nabbed an all-time classic launching in just 10 days. We’re talking, of course, about Heat, which Netflix has already confirmed is joining its streaming library on October 16 in America. The movie is only available to stream via the free platform Fawesome TV, so this will certainly be a step-up in terms of overall access viewers will have to the film. For those who haven’t watched or heard of Heat, it’s a critically acclaimed and audience-beloved heist thriller written and directed by Michael Mann and starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, and Jon Voight.

Is Michael Mann Making Another ‘Heat’ Movie?

Michael Mann is making another Heat movie, which is scheduled to begin shooting next month, though it’s still without an official release date. What’s especially interesting about the new Heat movie is that it’s going to act as more of a prequel than a sequel, showing McCauley and his gang in 1988 completing a string of heists on the West Coast and on the Mexico-USA border. It comes as no surprise after the cult-like success of the first movie, but Mann has enlisted an all-time roster of stars for Heat 2. This includes Stephen Graham as Neil McCauley, Christian Bale as Vincent Hanna, Leonardo DiCaprio as Chris Shiherlis, Adam Driver as Otis Wardell, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Kelso.
