Taylor Sheridan fans have seen some big stars come and go in his projects in the last 10 years, and as his ever-expanding TV empire at Paramount has grown, it’s unlocked the potential for bigger and bigger stars to join the franchise. Look no further than one of Sheridan’s first Yellowstone spin-offs, 1923, which was led by iconic stars such as Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. Even legendary Western actor Sam Elliott has had key roles in another Yellowstone offshoot, 1883, as well as the second and soon-to-be third season of Landman. One of the stars to feature alongside Elliott in the first and only season of 1883 was Tim McGraw, who played the lead role of James Dutton alongside his wife, Faith Hill, who starred as Margaret Dutton. 1883 is streaming now on Paramount Plus.
While Tim McGraw is best known for his work as a country music star, he has featured in some notable movies and TV shows over the years. Not only is he widely known for his role as Sean Tuohy in The Blind Side, the beloved 2009 football movie, but he’s also branched out to other genres, even fantasy. Back in 2017, McGraw teamed up with Sam Worthington (Avatar: Fire and Ash) for The Shack, which also stars Octavia Spencer. For the last few months, The Shack has found a streaming home on Netflix, but this unfortunately won’t be the case for much longer. Netflix has announced that The Shack is leaving the platform at the end of this month, meaning that the last day to watch the film will be on September 30.
What Is ‘The Shack’ About?
The official synopsis for The Shack, which earned a poor 20% from critics but a solid 76% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, reads as follows: “After suffering a family tragedy, Mack Phillips spirals into a deep depression that causes him to question his innermost beliefs. Facing a crisis of faith, he receives a mysterious letter urging him to an abandoned shack in the Oregon wilderness. Despite his doubts, Mack journeys to the shack and encounters an enigmatic trio of strangers led by a woman named Papa. Through this meeting, Mack finds important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy and change his life forever.” Stuart Hazeldine directed The Shack, and Destin Daniel Cretton helped write the script. Cretton is best known for his work writing and directing both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
