Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake has an even better pre-order than the one everyone wants

Fans of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time who rushed to pre-order the upcoming remake’s first print run’s special foil-covered edition may have acted too soon. Not long after the standard Nintendo Switch 2 promotion was announced, a second and potentially more appealing pre-order option appeared for the Zelda remake.

In this case, the game would still have a foil cover. It would also include a special slip cover that can be placed around the game’s case to make it look like the original The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Nintendo 64 box. It has a retro-but-classy feel.

Region-exclusive Ocarina of Time remake pre-order bonuses

Here’s the bad news: this Ocarina of Time remake pre-order is region and retailer exclusive. Only Canadian customers who order early at EB Games will get the N64 variant. Don’t feel too jealous, though: Canadians pay more for their games. While the physical version costs $69.99 in the U.S., Canadians pay the U.S. dollar equivalent of $79.25.

In the U.K., fans who pre-order through Nintendo can get a 3D replica of the Spiritual Stones that Link collects during his adventure. There is also a regional pre-order that comes with a small keychain replica of Link’s blue ocarina. Neither is as good as the slip cover, and in some cases the extras are already sold out. Still, for fans who were able to nab the pre-orders in time, at least they are getting something besides a shiny cover.

What about Zelda Switch 2 console pre-order restocks?

Elsewhere, the search for a Zelda Switch 2 console pre-order continues. Retailers such as Amazon and Target have restocked multiple times since pre-orders went live — Amazon has made new stock available 22 separate times since midnight on Sept. 11. Whenever you check, the retailers will likely list the console as sold out. The best thing you can do right now is heed Nintendo’s advice on how to get a Switch 2 hardware pre-order — or go over to the dark side and secure a console on eBay.

Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will be released on Nov. 5. The Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition hardware will be released on Oct. 29.
