Have you ever wondered why Vin Diesel has been spotted on numerous occasions pushing Michael Caine along in a wheelchair? It's because they've been friends for decades. However, they worked together on just one movie, which is currently streaming on Netflix — but only for a little while longer. It was one of Diesel's many attempts in the 2010s to start a new franchise for himself, alongside the blockbuster Fast & Furious series. Diesel attempted to reboot his cult favorite The Chronicles of Riddick series with the movie Riddick, which grossed nearly $100 million worldwide, and then starred in Bloodshot, whose theatrical run was cut short by the pandemic. Between these two releases, Diesel headlined the fantasy film that also featured Caine.

It was directed by Breck Eisner, who made an ill-fated theatrical debut a decade earlier with the action-adventure film Sahara, which remains one of the biggest box-office bombs of all time. Eisner rebounded with the well-received zombie thriller The Crazies. The 2015 fantasy film with Diesel was inspired by the actor's love for Dungeons & Dragons, and followed an immortal hunter of witches who must protect the world from evil. Years later, a full-fledged Dungeons & Dragons movie was released by Paramount, while Netflix's The Witcher adaptation generated massive success. Neither of them, however, featured Diesel as a magic Viking wearing a wig.
