One More Level Games, the creators of Ghostrunner, will release their next game, Valor Mortis, on Oct. 13 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. It will launch simultaneously on Game Pass and be available as a trial for PlayStation Plus subscribers, giving many gamers a chance to try it for free.

Valor Mortis is a first-person soulslike. The protagonist, William, is a fallen soldier in Napoleon's army. After being revived, he realizes that the plague has contaminated and transformed his fellow soldiers into monsters, while granting him special abilities. Players must take down the infected beings while searching for Catalysts and Ambers to unlock more skills and modify William's stats, tailoring the character to their own preferences.

If the game sounds right up your alley, you'll be happy to know that launch day is just around the corner. Valor Mortis becomes available on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Game Pass subscribers will gain full access to the title on launch day. PlayStation Plus members will receive a 90-minute trial. Valor Mortis is expected to take about 20 hours to complete, so the free trial gives players access to a decent part of the game. Trial progression will be saved and carried over if players later acquire the full game.

Valor Mortis costs $39.99 across all platforms. Publisher Lyrical Games wanted Valor Mortis to have a more affordable price tag so it has a better chance at competing with the many games coming out this season.

"We believe it can go toe-to-toe with full-price titles but still, this fall is stacked. That's why we've decided to launch Valor Mortis for $39.99. We'll let our game do the talking when we launch on October 13!" @ValorMortis on X

Digital pre-orders are not available, which means no exclusive content is locked behind a paywall and access is granted simultaneously to all players. However, players can pre-order physical editions of Valor Mortis, which will include a disc rather than just a code in a box. This is particularly great for Xbox players who will be able to digitize it. This grants them a digital license for Valor Mortis, allowing them to play it on additional devices, including PC, thanks to Play Anywhere.
