2026 was a quiet year for Tom Hardy for the most part, at least until he suited back up as Harry Da Souza in the second season of MobLand on Paramount Plus. Hardy was a standout in the first season of the Guy Ritchie-directed and produced crime drama, and though he was already confirmed to return in Season 2, his Season 3 role was called into question when reports surfaced online that he had been fired from the show. These reports were debunked within a few weeks, and it has since been confirmed that Hardy will return in MobLand Season 3, which has already been greenlit. Hardy also has a few other projects on the slate, but most are still in the early stages of development, so it’s unclear at this time when they will be released.

In the years leading up to his run as one of the biggest action/sci-fi stars in the world, Hardy featured in dozens of smaller projects, some that are certainly more popular than others. All the way back in 2011, Hardy starred in one of the most underrated spy thrillers of the year, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which grossed over $80 million at the global box office. Two things make this box office total more impressive than you realize: The movie cost only $20 million to make, and it only opened with $300,000 during its first weekend, meaning it showed extraordinary legs at the box office. The only problem now is that Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy has officially vanished from streaming, and the film isn’t even available to watch on VOD platforms like Prime Video or Apple TV.

What Is ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ About?

In addition to Tom Hardy as Ricki Tarr, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy also stars Stephen Graham as Jerry Westerby, Benedict Cumberbatch as Peter Guillam, Colin Firth as Bill Haydon, Ciarán Hinds as Roy Bland, Toby Jones as Percy Alleline, Mark Strong as Jim Prideaux, and Gary Oldman as George Smiley. The film is based on the novel by John le Carré, with Bridget O’Connor and Peter Straughan writing the script and Tomas Alfredson directing. It's perfect for Slow Horses fans, as both projects are spy thrillers centering around MI agents. The official synopsis for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy reads as follows:

“In the 1970s England the head of MI6, Control (John Hurt), dispatches an agent (Mark Strong) to meet with a Hungarian general who knows the identity of a Soviet spy in the organization's ranks. However, the mission goes wrong, and the general dies before he can reveal the information. Undersecretary Oliver Lacon (Simon McBurney) calls veteran agent George Smiley (Gary Oldman) back from forced retirement to ferret out the mole and stop the flow of vital British secrets to the Russians.”
