CD Projekt Red released the long-awaited remaster of The Witcher 3 on Sept. 29. The updated version of the 2015 RPG masterpiece improves the graphics and overhauls a number of systems, but not everything has been running smoothly since launch. To address a number of issues players are encountering in The Witcher 3: Remastered, CD Projekt Red has pushed out two fixes within hours of each other.
The first hotfix, patch 5.00b, is relatively minor and aims to address various graphical issues. As detailed on the official Witcher blog, the hotfix makes lighting adjustments, fixes a DLSS issue encountered with Xbox Play Anywhere on PC, and brings console versions of the game more in line with PC. CD Projekt Red signed off by promising that it was working on a fix specifically for PC issues.
That promised fix came a few hours later in the form of patch 5.00c. This hotfix is for the PC versions available on Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, Battle.net, and via Xbox Play Anywhere. It addresses two of the most frustrating bugs players have run into in The Witcher 3: Remastered so far. The first prevented saving or loading when the Documents folder path contained special characters. The second is an audio issue where the game's voiceover would be significantly quieter than other audio after navigating the pause menu. CD Projekt Red assured players these have now been fixed. The studio's social media director also posted to say that a fix for the voice issue is coming to consoles, but there is no date for that yet.
What's next for The Witcher?

After the release of The Witcher 3: Remastered, CD Projekt Red has a busy schedule lined up for the series. First up is Songs of the Past, an all-new expansion coming to The Witcher 3 next year co-developed by CD Projekt Red and Fool's Theory. It will take players to a new region and will be about the same size of the previous Blood and Wine expansion.
Then there's the next mainline entry in the series, The Witcher 4. The game is being developed by CD Projekt Red and is due out in 2028. One of the most exciting pieces of information we know about the sequel is that it will star Ciri as the protagonist in Geralt's place. Fool's Theory is also working on a remake of the original Witcher, but that project has taken a backseat to Songs of the Past and The Witcher 4, so there is no telling when we will see that.
