Taylor Sheridan's $30 Million Thriller Surges After Sequel Announcement

Best known for writing all five seasons of Kevin Costner's Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan is nothing short of a TV guru thanks to his work at Paramount over the last few years. This summer, it was Lioness (starring Zoe Saldaña) that had everyone talking, but despite record viewership in the show's Season 3 return, it has still not yet been renewed for Season 4. Another popular Sheridan-written and produced show to emerge in the last few years is Landman, the oil-drilling drama starring Billy Bob Thornton and Ali Larter. It was once thought that the show would return for Season 3 later this year, but it's now been delayed to sometime in 2027 after production only just started a few weeks ago. Sheridan does have new things in the works coming soon to be excited about, though.

Premiering in just a few days is the fourth season of Tulsa King, the hit crime drama written by Taylor Sheridan and starring Sylvester Stallone. Paramount is so confident that the show is going to be a hit that it's already been renewed for Season 5. Another Sheridan property coming back for another installment soon is Sicario, but it's seemingly doing so without Sheridan's involvement, despite him being an integral part of the first two movies. News broke last week that the original Sicario trio is reuniting for a third movie, but Sheridan is not writing the script or directing — Steven Knight is writing the script, and Padraic McKinley is directing. Still, despite Sheridan's lack of involvement, this news has prompted fans to check out Sicario once again on streaming, pushing it back into the global top 10.

Here's How to Watch 'Sicario' on Streaming

At the time of writing, Sicario is streaming exclusively on HBO Max, and the streamer has not yet announced any plans for the movie to leave the platform, so it's a safe bet that it'll be around for another month or two. Denis Villeneuve, best known for his work on the Dune movies and Blade Runner 2049, directed Sicario, but he did not return to helm the 2018 sequel. Stefano Sollima, who worked with Sheridan in 2021 on Tom Clancy's Without Remorse (starring Michael B. Jordan), directed Sicario: Day of the Soldado, which starred both Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro.
