Tajikistan marked 35 years of independence with nationwide celebrations, parades and ceremonies. But the anniversary is also a chance for the country to look ahead.

President Emomali Rahmon has set out ambitions for a more industrial, technology-driven economy supported by green energy, modern infrastructure and a stronger workforce.

Government officials stressed sustained economic growth, energy security and accelerated industrialisation as key priorities, while investors pointed to the country’s substantial hydropower potential and major projects such as the Rogun Dam.

The programme also looked at Tajikistan’s efforts to strengthen international ties and attract new investment. Officials and investors alike saw the anniversary as an opportunity to shape Tajikistan’s next chapter with renewed purpose.

The celebrations culminated in a concert at Dushanbe’s new National Stadium.
