Sydney Sweeney has not-so-quietly become one of the biggest movie stars in the world in the last few years, and one of her most successful projects from 2025 is overstaying its welcome on streaming. Near the end of last year, Sweeney teamed up with Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar for The Housemaid, which grossed over $400 million at the box office against a $30 million budget. The movie went on to become a smash-hit on streaming as well, where it's still in the top 10 in a handful of countries around the world. Earlier this year, Sweeney finished up her three-season run as Cassie on Euphoria, and HBO confirmed around the same time that the finale was released that the show would not return for another season. Sweeney has enough projects on deck, though, that she likely isn't sweating Euphoria coming to an end.
Amidst all the chaos and success for Sydney Sweeney, she's also still riding high off the success of her 2025 Apple TV movie, Echo Valley. The film was directed by Michael Pearce and written by Brad Ingelsby, the same scribe who delivered not one, but two of the best HBO Max shows from the last few years, Mare of Easttown and Task. It's now been well over a year since Echo Valley began streaming on Apple TV last June, but the film has been in the top 10 in various countries around the world for over 250 days now. It was also produced by the great sci-fi legend Ridley Scott, who recently returned to the big screen this year with The Dog Stars, which bombed at the box office.
What Is 'Echo Valley' About?
Additional cast members for Echo Valley include Domhnall Gleeson as Jackie Lawson, Fiona Shaw as Leslie Oliver, Edmund Donovan as Ryan Sincalir, Albert Jones as Detective Ballard, Kyle MacLachlan as Richard Garretson, and Katya Campbell as Audrey. The official synopsis for the film, which earned poor scores of 53% from critics and 48% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, reads as follows:
“In the edge-of-your-seat thriller 'Echo Valley,' Kate (Oscar winner Julianne Moore) is a mother struggling to make peace with her troubled daughter Claire (multi-Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney) - a situation that becomes even more perilous when Claire shows up on Kate's doorstep, hysterical and covered in someone else's blood. As Kate pieces together the shocking truth of what happened, she learns just how far a mother will go to try to save her child in this gripping tale of love, sacrifice and survival from BAFTA-winning director Michael Pearce and Emmy-nominated writer Brad Ingelsby.”
