Prime Video’s 84-Minute Gal Gadot Action Thriller Is Officially Taking Over the World

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is no stranger to backlash from film fans. In 2025, she starred as the Evil Queen in Disney's live-action Snow White remake, which drew widespread attention online, much of it negative. From conservative backlash over Rachel Zegler's casting to honest and fair criticism of the film's quality, Snow White went down as one of the worst movies of last year as well as one of 2025's biggest financial flops, earning just $200 million against a bloated budget of $269.4 million.

Gadot followed her turn as the Evil Queen with the Netflix drama In the Hand of Dante, based on the 2002 novel by Nick Tosches. This faced similar negativity, albeit on a much smaller scale, being called an "overplayed literary fever dream." After a disastrous 2025, we would have to wait until September 2026 to see if Gadot could redeem herself, and the release of her latest project couldn't have gone much worse. Considered by some to be her worst movie in years, The Runner has been torn apart by both critics and fans, scoring just a 10% average rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Likened to Die Hard With a Vengeance, the film follows Gadot's Maia Marten as her routine life is thrown into chaos when she receives a phone call saying her son has been abducted. She is then instructed that she must complete a series of brutal tasks to get him back, and if she breaks any of the strict rules, he will die. A simple premise that should provide the platform for a tense, edge-of-the-seat film sadly falls flat, being described as "devoid of any rising tension" by one critic. Nevertheless, the film has caught the attention of Prime Video subscribers, who have helped it become the most-watched movie on Prime Video in the world at the time of writing.

Sure, Gadot is taking a lot of the flak for The Runner, but she isn't the only famous face who appears in this lackluster action thriller.
