This November, David Fincher and Quentin Tarantino's hotly anticipated The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will get an extended run in IMAX theaters ahead of its Netflix debut. But before the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood spin-off's arrival, the streamer is releasing another major awards contender theatrically. Netflix has changed its tune regarding theatrical releases in recent months, especially after its failed bid for Warner Bros. With next year's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew being treated as a big-screen release by Netflix, the future of the company certainly looks nothing like it did in the last decade. Netflix has experimented with limited theatrical runs on a few occasions, but the recent La Bola Negra marked the start of a new era for the streamer. This streak of giving proper theatrical rollouts to handpicked titles and reporting their box-office grosses will continue on October 30 with a new release.
The movie in question is directed by veteran Netflix collaborator Peter Berg, who previously worked with the company on the action comedy film Spenser Confidential, the Western limited series American Primeval, and the 2023 series Painkiller. The new movie, a WWII drama based on a true story, comes on the heels of hit WWII content such as Nuremberg, which grossed around $70 million globally last year; the sleeper hit Pressure, which holds a 95% audience score on Netflix; and the documentary series World War II with Tom Hanks, which emerged as a PVOD sensation this summer.
