Mahershala Ali Says Kevin Feige Should Feel Like a 'Giant Loser' Over Shelved Blade Movie

Mahershala Ali has made his feelings about being left in the lurch by Marvel and Kevin Feige quite clear in recent months, and in a new interview, he said that Feige should absolutely feel like a "giant loser" for not moving forward with the Blade movie. These were the words that Feige used about himself in an earlier interview with Josh Horowitz, expressing regret about the ill-fated project. Ali, a two-time Oscar winner, said in a new interview with GQ that he had moved his family to Atlanta in anticipation of the project, for which he had undergone intense training in martial arts and sword fighting. He had also turned down other opportunities while Marvel kept "pushing" the project back.

Asked why the Blade movie didn't move forward even though it had a celebrated star like him attached, Ali said, “They had, as you said, a two-time Oscar-winning actor under contract, and you got billions of dollars. That’s a question for them. I don’t know why it didn’t. To this day, I don’t know why it didn’t happen. I just know that it was – Kevin, he said it was the biggest failure of his career and I agree." When Feige's quote about feeling like a "giant loser" was read out to him, Ali said, "I agree with him. I agree with him one hundred percent. One hundred percent. He should feel that way. I agree. I trained so hard I blew my knee out. I was just waiting for them. I’m still training. I’m training. I’m learning sword work. Name the martial art, I’m training in it. And I literally moved, uprooted my family, moved to Atlanta. We are there waiting to go. And they just keep pushing it back, pushing it back, pushing it. It doesn’t happen. And then it’s a strike.”
