With his illustrious Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey co-stars Tom Holland and Zendaya drawing the bulk of attention for their success this year, let's not forget what a terrific 2026 Jon Bernthal is having. Before playing a scene-stealing supporting character in Christopher Nolan's epic blockbuster, which has grossed more than $1.6 billion worldwide, Bernthal headlined a hit Netflix limited series alongside Tessa Thompson. Titled His & Hers, it briefly became one of Netflix's 10 most-watched original shows of all time, before it was overtaken by the more recent Harlan Coben adaptation I Will Find You. Bernthal also starred in the well-received Marvel special Punisher: One Last Kill, which brought him back as the vigilante Frank Castle. This week, one of Bernthal's most popular movies was resurrected on Hulu, a year after its theatrical release.

The movie in question debuted in 2025 to positive reviews. It went on to gross around $100 million worldwide against a reported budget of $80 million, which may not look positive on paper until you realize that the goal all along was to generate buzz for its eventual streaming release. An Amazon MGM Studios release directed by Gavin O'Connor, the movie found major success on Prime Video, topping the streamer's viewership charts for several weeks. Also featuring J.K. Simmons, it served as a sequel to a theatrical sleeper hit released by Warner Bros. in 2016 that grossed $155 million worldwide against a reported budget of $44 million.

The Movie Is "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes
