Since Endgame, it's fair to say that the MCU has failed to live up to its previous heights. With the introduction of small-screen content, it's become harder than ever to keep up with the many branches of the main timeline. However, that might all be about to change as Marvel, Disney, and co. throw absolutely everything at their most ambitious movie yet: Avengers: Doomsday. Described by the Russo Brothers as a "complete reinvention" for the franchise, could this be the spark that ignites another all-conquering era for Earth's Mightiest Heroes?

On December 18, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Tom Hiddleston, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, and many, many more will line up in a Marvel-ous ensemble that seems sure to be the most expensively assembled of any film ever. Even Robert Downey Jr., after his sacrifice in the aforementioned Endgame, has been cast in Doomsday, although he will portray the villainous Doctor Doom, much to the dismay of many online.

One Marvel mainstay not involved in Doomsday is Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. "No, no, no, no. Not in that one... Doomsday, I'm not in, so the Avengers will probably lose, just so you know," Renner joked during a recent Q&A, adding, "They didn't call me, so it's their fault they're going to lose." With so many names involved in Doomsday, it's hard to imagine there will be room for any presence to be missed, but Renner was a vital member of the main Avengers team, so it is a shame he won't be present for this biggest battle yet. However, to make up for it, it seems that fans are digging into the Renner archive and uncovering some of his lesser-spoken-of projects.

Which Jeremy Renner Movie Is a Streaming Hit?

Released in 2013, Renner starred alongside the ever-brilliant Gemma Arterton in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, a bonkers action fantasy flick which saw the famous siblings from the German fairy tale all grown-up and hunting witches. Directed by Tommy Wirkola, the film was an undeniable success at the box office, scoring a $226 million global haul against a $50 million budget, but faced huge backlash from critics, illustrated by a 17% score on Rotten Tomatoes. 13 years later, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is an unlikely hit, ranking as one of the ten most-watched movies on Paramount+ in the U.S.
