Jason Statham Officially Returns to Action in First 'Beekeeper 2' Trailer

2026 has been a busy year for Jason Statham, who maintains his status as one of the biggest action stars in the world. Statham returned to the big screen in January for the premiere of Shelter, which came into theaters receiving some of the best reviews of any movie of his career. The film was directed by Ric Roman Waugh, who also recently worked with Gerard Butler on both Greenland movies. Statham followed Shelter with a new action thriller, Mutiny, which was directed by Jean François-Richet, best known for his work on another Gerard Butler-led action thriller, Plane. Neither Shelter nor Mutiny put together an impressive run at the box office, but both movies have gone on to become two of the most-watched movies of the year on their respective streaming platforms.

It was thought coming into the year that Shelter and Mutiny would be only the first two action movies of 2026 for Statham, with The Beekeeper 2 releasing before the end of the year. However, not long into 2026, Amazon MGM announced that the film had been dated for release on January 15, 2027. After releasing the first posters for The Beekeeper 2 yesterday, Amazon unleashed the first official teaser trailer for the film this morning. The Beekeeper (2024) was directed by David Ayer, who did not return to direct the sequel due to his commitment to direct Brad Pitt's Heart of the Beast. Ayer was replaced by Timo Tjahjanto as director for the sequel — Tjahjanto recently worked with Bob Odenkirk on Nobody 2, and he's been tapped to direct Simu Liu's Sleeping Dogs movie.

What Else Do We Know About 'The Beekeeper 2'?

In addition to Jason Statham returning as Adam Clay, The Beekeeper 2 also stars Jeremy Irons, who is back in his role from the first film. Newcoming stars include Pom Klementieff, who is best known for her role as Mantis in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and Adam Copeland, the former WWE superstar known as Edge who also plays Ares in Disney's Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The Beekeeper 2 will see Statham's Adam Clay drug back into action after the Beekeeper organization goes rogue and sets its sights on former operatives, forcing Clay to take down the group that made him.
