A Quiet Place has become one of horror's most enduring franchises in the short time since its release, introducing audiences to the Abbott family, led by writer-director John Krasinski, and to the most terrifying creatures that hear every heartbeat around them. Thanks to its continued success, A-list names have continued to flock to the series, and one of horror's newest darlings is the latest family member jumping aboard.

Speaking exclusively with Collider's Aidan Kelley at the Newport Beach Film Festival, Jack O'Connell revealed that he and Cillian Murphy will play brothers in A Quiet Place Part III. O'Connell, who has become a horror favorite over the last few years thanks to his roles in Sinners and the 28 Years Later series, explained that the upcoming sequel will continue exploring the importance of family. Asked about his upcoming projects, including Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and the new A Quiet Place movie, he also reflected on the current popularity of horror, expressing his enthusiasm for its evergreen and continued theatrical success:

"A Quiet Place was, that felt like family. It's about family, obviously. Got John Krasinski and Emily Blunt involved, and Cillian and I play brothers. There was a real familial feel to that one. It was cool, man. But horror's popping off. People are turning out for horror. So it's great. Yeah, it's amazing."

That's an interesting development for the future of the franchise because, as we all know, Emmett had lost his wife and children following the alien invasion, leaving him isolated and initially reluctant to help Evelyn Abbott and her surviving children in A Quiet Place Part II.

'A Quiet Place Part III' Is Bringing Back Familiar Faces

The third installment reunites Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott and Murphy as Emmett, with Krasinski returning to direct after previously helming the first two movies. O'Connell also discussed his experience working on Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, revealing that the production reunited him with Delroy Lindo, his co-star from Sinners. "I think Godzilla was a hoot, a lot of fun. Great to be doing it with Delroy again, Uncle Delroy. Yeah, it was a fun bunch to be around," said O'Connell.

The original A Quiet Place earned approximately $341 million worldwide against a modest $17 million production budget, becoming one of 2018's biggest surprise hits. Its 2021 sequel followed with another $297 million worldwide, while the 2024 prequel A Quiet Place: Day One expanded the franchise further, earning approximately $262 million globally.

A Quiet Place Part III is currently in development. Stay tuned at Collider for more.
