Guy Ritchie’s Henry Cavill Crime Thriller Officially Finds an Audience on Streaming

Guy Ritchie has been intensely busy in 2026, but one of his biggest misfires of the year is finally finding success on streaming. Ritchie’s first project of the year took him back to the Sherlock Holmes universe for the Prime Video prequel series, Young Sherlock, which is officially set to return for Season 2. Ritchie also recently brought back his hit Netflix series, The Gentlemen, for Season 2, but things didn’t exactly go according to plan as the series dropped nearly 50% in viewership from Season 1 to Season 2. Netflix has yet to publicly decide the fate of the show, but this dip in viewership certainly won’t help its chances of coming back for a third season. Ritchie is also returning for the new season of MobLand this week, which is expected to be a massive hit on Paramount+.

Sandwiched between all these streaming projects was Guy Ritchie’s return to the big screen with In The Grey, the new action thriller starring Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal. In The Grey hit theaters back in May, but the film struggled to get off the ground at the box office, grossing just $27 million globally — budget information was never made public. After a moderately successful run on VOD that likely helped In The Grey recuperate some of its budget, the film just began streaming on Starz this past weekend. Only one day after its premiere on the platform, In The Grey immediately reached the #1 spot and was crowned the most popular movie streaming on Starz. The film also stars Eiza González, who previously worked with Ritchie and Cavill on The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

The official synopsis for In The Grey, which earned scores of 52% from critics and 82% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, reads as follows: “In The Grey follows a covert team of elite operatives who live in the global shadows, as comfortable wielding power and influence as they are automatic weapons and high explosives. When a ruthless despot steals a billion-dollar fortune, the team is sent to steal it back on what would be for anyone else a suicide mission. What begins as an impossible heist gets much worse, spiraling into an all-out war of strategy, deception and survival.” Rosamund Pike, best known for her role in Prime Video’s canceled fantasy series, The Wheel of Time, also has a key role in In The Grey.
