James Gunn's DCU has slowly built up its roster, with its most recent addition being the Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), in the HBO series Lanterns. With Superman (David Corenswet) and Supergirl (Milly Alcock) already having made their appearances, and the Batman DCU movie still in the works, there are a few more Justice League members who have yet to be confirmed to enter this rebooted cinematic universe. Perhaps this latest product may hint at who comes next to make their DCU debut.

In January 2023, Gunn revealed the first entry of his rebooted universe titled "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters." While some of the announced projects have already come out, a few were shelved, like Waller, or added months after the initial announcement, like Man of Tomorrow. Currently, rumors suggest Wonder Woman could appear in Man of Tomorrow, played by Adria Arjona, whose role has yet to be officially revealed. If this is true, this adds another member of the Justice League to the DCU's roster. And if that's the case, then this latest product could hint at who's next in line.

The official DC shop lists "The Flash Ring" with a $60 price tag. The replica ring is said to be a "nod to Barry Allen and The Flash comic book history," can flip the cover to showcase The Flash's uniform, and comes in four sizes. As of writing, only size 9 is left available. The ring comes packaged in a Flash-themed box and is available to purchase today. At the moment, there has not been any news on whether The Flash will be part of the DCU or if he will make his debut in a later installment of this cinematic universe. The closest thing we have to this is Gunn confirming that the 2023 film, The Flash, would be a feature that would "reset the entire DC Universe", which makes sense since it's based on the Flashpoint storyline. Gunn also previously stated that both The Flash and Aquaman would likely join the DCU within the next few years in a prior interview.

Is 'The Flash' Worth Watching?

The Flash follows Barry Allen (Ezra Miller), who uses his powers to go back in time to save his mother from getting killed. But in doing so, he changes the timeline: he's in a universe with no metahumans, a retired Batman (Michael Keaton), and Zodd (Michael Shannon) hasn't invaded Earth yet. The film ends with Barry setting things right by letting his mother die, but he makes a small change to prove his father's innocence; in turn, Bruce Wayne in this new universe looks different, from Ben Affleck to George Clooney.

Since its release, The Flash has earned $271.4 million at the global box office, slightly higher than its reported $200-220 million budget. At the same time, audiences praised the film, earning an 81% rating on Popcornmeter and a 63% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes. Collider's Ross Bonaime gave The Flash a C+ rating in his review, citing that the movie's exploration of time travel "does not work" and has created a "false hero's journey that never learns its lesson," but praised its smaller moments, like its themes of mentorship between Bruce and Barry and alternate Barry.
