Inde Navarrette is a name everyone will know by 2027, if they don't already. The horror genre's newest final girl hosted Saturday Night Live on Halloween, and is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Rogue in the upcoming X-Men reboot. She will star alongside Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Christopher Abbot as Professor X, Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister, and Kit Connor as Cyclops. As fans eagerly obsess over Navarrette's next career move, the film that launched her to stardom is about to find a new streaming home.

YouTuber-turned-filmmaker Curry Barker's record-breaking horror film Obsession is coming to Netflix on November 17. After its run on Peacock, Netflix will introduce Freaky Nikki to a whole new audience, keeping the Halloween spirit alive a little longer. While the premise isn't exactly new — there have been many cursed object or wish-gone-wrong horror movies out there — Obsession breathes new life into a tired formula. Beneath the supernatural scares, the real (and timely) horror comes from the so-called "nice guy," whose crush reveals a much nastier, misogynistic side. Barker's nuanced storytelling, especially his use of lighting effects, combined with what Collider's Hannah Hunt calls an Oscar-worthy performance by Navarrette, proves both deserve to be on Hollywood's rising A-list. Critics and audiences agree, both awarding the film highly at 93% and 94%, respectively, on Rotten Tomatoes.

What's Next for Curry Barker?

Curry Barker, only in his late 20s, is just getting started. On Halloween, the filmmaker returned to his YouTube roots with a short film called Mama Bear. He wrote, directed, and edited the 5-minute horror film, and it's available to watch for free now. In May 2027, Barker will release the horror-comedy Anything But Ghosts, which he says deserves a "free pass" after Obsession. The new film reunites Barker with his Obsession co-star Cooper Tomlinson along with heavy-hitters like Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul and Jurassic World's Bryce Dallas Howard. On top of that, Barker is tapped to direct the newest version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre for A24, as well as an untitled horror project from Universal and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster. Clearly both Barker and Navarrette aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Obsession joins Netflix on November 17. Stay tuned for more updates on Inde Navarrette's and Curry Barker's upcoming projects.
