A host of recently released theatrical films made their digital debut this past week, and each is already among the most popular titles on platforms such as iTunes and the Play Store. They are having to contend with the holdover mega-hit Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which remains the most popular movie on PVOD after making its home-video debut on October 6. This past week, films such as the fantasy sequel Practical Magic 2, the action-thriller The Fix, and the Alan Ritchson vehicle Runner all debuted at home, along with an original sci-fi movie that premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

It competed for the prestigious Palme d'Or at Cannes and was distributed domestically by Neon. The outfit holds the unprecedented distinction of having released seven Palme d'Or winners in a row domestically, a streak that began with Parasite in 2019. Like Parasite, the new sci-fi movie hails from South Korea. The sci-fi thriller was directed by the acclaimed Na Hong-jin, and it features the real-life married couple Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender in intriguing supporting parts. The main characters, on the other hand, are played by Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon.
