Marvel fans have had a lot to be excited about this year, especially on the big screen, even though there will only be two new movies instead of some recent years, which produced three. The first Marvel movie of 2026, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has found tremendous success at the box office by becoming one of the few films in history to reach $2.5 billion globally. Marvel has also released new seasons of TV shows such as Daredevil: Born Again and X-Men '97, while also introducing a new series in Wonder Man. Fans were led to believe that Wonder Man would be on the air for a while, but after Marvel initially renewed the series for Season 2, the studio later went back and announced that the show would be canceled.

Next up on the slate for the MCU is VisionQuest, which will be the final Marvel project before one of the biggest releases in franchise history, Avengers: Doomsday. The last few MCU movies, particularly The Fantastic Four: First Steps, have all led to the colossal events of Avengers: Doomsday. All members of The Fantastic Four, but especially Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards, have featured prominently in the initial trailers for the film, and now, fans have an added layer of context to the shocking post-credit scene featuring Doctor Doom and Franklin Richards. The first-look at new Marvel Funko Pops were released this week, including one titled “Doctor Doom with Franklin,” which confirms that the titular villain is indeed after Reed and Sue's son. The other is titled "Lord Doom." We don't know exactly why yet, but with Franklin's power to reshape reality and bring people back to life like he did his mother, Doom certainly has plans for the young cosmic hero.

Who Stars in 'Avengers: Doomsday'?

In addition to The Fantastic Four, Avengers: Doomsday features one of the most impressive superhero casts ever assembled. This includes Robert Downey Jr as Doctor Doom, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and dozens more. It's also heavily speculated, but not confirmed, that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will return as Deadpool and Wolverine in the film.
