Being an Alien fan means having a very different idea of what counts as a beautiful collectible. Put a Xenomorph on something, and there’s a good chance it’s coming home, despite everything those movies have taught us about bringing unfamiliar creatures aboard. But when the artwork gets H.R. Giger’s design right, it’s hard to argue with the purchase. The best pieces give you a reason to stop and look at the creature again. There’s so much detail in that original design, and it deserves more than being slapped beside a movie logo. It also helps if there’s a little something for the fans who spent most of the first movie worrying about the cat.

Today, Collider is thrilled to reveal that Loungefly and Mondo are bringing both to New York Comic Con with a new Alien collection featuring artwork by Attack Peter. We can also bring you an exclusive sneak peek at the new collection. The exclusive tote puts his black-and-cream Xenomorph illustration front and center, with a facehugger on the back and a Jonesy charm hanging from the bag. The artwork is the big draw, but that little orange cat might be what finally gets fans to reach for their wallets. The tote will cost $80, while a matching zip-around wallet featuring the Xenomorph and a facehugger-patterned lining will be available for $42.

Attack Peter’s ‘Alien’ Collection Started With a Childhood Love of Xenomorphs

For Peter Santa-Maria, known as Attack Peter and Mondo’s senior creative director, this collaboration goes back to a monster he’s been drawing for years. “As a lifelong monster kid, Alien is baked into my creative DNA, and I remember spending my childhood filling notebooks with Xenomorphs,” he said.

“For this collection, I pored over the original suit design so carefully to translate H.R. Giger’s legendary design into my signature, hand-carved linocut style.”

That attention to the original suit is a good place to start with a creature whose appearance is such a huge part of its appeal. Fans know that elongated head and those skeletal features immediately, but an artist’s interpretation can still give them something new to admire. Santa-Maria’s approach also carries over the texture of his printmaking, which was a priority when adapting the work for the collection. “Translating a hand-carved block print onto Loungefly’s iconic silhouettes honors the raw texture of the original art while delivering an elevated statement piece designed for the Alien fandom,” he explained. The result gives the Xenomorph plenty of room to command attention. Jonesy gets a much smaller role, although anyone who loves that cat knows he doesn’t need much space to become the favorite.

Fans can pick up the tote at Funko’s booth, #4515, during New York Comic Con, October 8–11, or find it on Loungefly.com. Loungefly won’t have a dedicated booth this year, so head to the Funko booth if you’re shopping at the convention. Stay tuned at Collider for more news out of NYCC.
