There is a growing crop of genre movies that perform exceptionally well on PVOD and streaming after they get a robust marketing push thanks to a theatrical run. These movies typically have a standard benchmark of around $15 million at the box office, which appears to be enough to recoup marketing costs and generate publicity for when they hit the home-video market. Some shining examples of the last few months are the World War II movies Pressure and Nuremberg, and the Jason Statham vehicles Mutiny and Shelter. Now, a new action movie is on track to join their ranks after overtaking one of the year's most high-profile underperformers.

The new movie stars Alan Ritchson in the lead role, alongside Owen Wilson. It was released a couple of weeks ago by Angel Studios, a company that specializes in faith-based content, but has been expanding its scope with genre movies that happen to have religious undertones. Ritchson, of course, has cultivated a large following on streaming thanks to Prime Video's blockbuster series Reacher, which recently concluded its fourth season. Ritchson's new movie was given a theatrical release that coincided with the Reacher Season 4 finale, and the launch of the spin-off series Neagley.
